Dieter Umholtz

I am an undergraduate student at UCSB pursuing a B.S. in Environmental Studies with an outside concentration in geography. I’m currently working in the Santoro Lab, helping to monitor harmful algal blooms as a part of the Southern California Coastal Ocean Observing System (SCCOOS). My interests in environmental studies span a variety of topics including coastal marine processes and algal community composition, as well as soil science and how the use of remote sensing and geographic information systems can support our understanding of soil processes.
