Having spent all my life living on the east coast, I’m excited for a change of scenery at UCSB. While I grew up in North Carolina, I received my B.S. in Marine Science and Biology with minors in chemistry and climate science and policy from the University of Miami in 2018. As a research assistant at the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science (RSMAS), I conducted compound-specific isotope analyses of amino acids and even worked with a graduate student/FBI agent to identify chemical compounds present in ancient narcotics. My time at RSMAS piqued my interest in the influence of marine microorganisms on earth’s biogeochemical cycles and I look forward to further delving into this topic as a graduate student at UCSB!
